Privacy policy

Draft: this page is still being reviewed and may change before Hugo Hosting starts taking on clients.

Last updated: DRAFT, 9 October 2026

Hugo Hosting ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you work with us, how we use it, and your choices.

1. What we collect

  • Enquiries: when you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), your business name and suburb, and anything you include in your message.
  • Clients: if you become a client, we also collect the business details and content you give us to build your website (such as your logo, photos, opening hours and contact details), plus billing details for invoices.
  • Website usage: we may use privacy-friendly analytics from our hosting provider to understand how this site is used (pages viewed, approximate country, device type). It doesn't use cookies or identify you personally.
  • Technical information: our hosting and infrastructure providers process IP addresses and similar technical data to deliver and protect this website.

We collect information directly from you wherever possible.

2. Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, give you a quote, and provide and support our services
  • To run and improve our website and business
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records

We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked to receive them, and we don't sell your personal information.

3. Who we share it with

Only as needed, with:

  • Service providers that help us run the business, including our hosting and infrastructure providers (website hosting and security), Google (email and file storage) and GitHub (storing website code for client projects)
  • Professional advisers, such as an accountant, where needed
  • Anyone you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires it

Overseas: some of these providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

4. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections, access controls and two-factor authentication on our accounts. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.

5. Your choices

  • You can ask us a general question without giving your name.
  • You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

6. Cookies

This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about your privacy, please email us at hello@hugohosting.com.au and we'll do our best to resolve it. You can also find information about privacy rights from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
